A.M.S. NOVA during Sea-trials

The new tug's sister vessel 'A.M.S. Orion', currently on a long-term charter servicing a major project in Gladstone, QLD, has been a significant success in A.M.S. Tugs & Barges' strategic plan to expand its services along the Eastern Coast of Australia. Following the success of 'A.M.S. Orion' and amidst rising demand for tugs of this kind, A.M.S. Tugs & Barges has committed to the 2nd delivery of a DAMEN Stan Tug 1606 to service Australian waters, aptly named 'A.M.S. NOVA'.  With its relatively shallow draft and good manouvreability, 'A.M.S. NOVA' will be involved in projects that are located along coastal/inland waters, ports and harbour limits.

Similar in specifications and versatile capabilities to her sister vessel, 'A.M.S. NOVA' has been designed for the tough Australian environment and conforms to all Australian Standards set nationally. 'A.M.S. NOVA' is equipped with high quality machinery, equipment and parts to maintain its efficiency and endurance for any appropriate marine operations. With the prevalent  tough and stringent conditions in Australia, the DAMEN Stan Tug 1606 has a proven track record in terms of performance, versatility and manouvreability.

During her recently conducted sea trials, 'A.M.S. NOVA' recorded  an average free run speed of 11.2 Knots and a maintained bollard pull rating of 17.8 Tons - a great accomplishment for a 16.6M Dutch Designed & Built Vessel. Among other machinery and equipment; 'A.M.S. NOVA' is notably equipped with CATERPILLAR USA Main Engines and Gensets, On-Deck HEILA Marine Crane and MAMPAEY Towing Hook c/w Coupling Winches.

'A.M.S. NOVA' is currently en route to Australia via a designated Heavy Lift Vessel and will be available End Nov 2011 for Charter out of Mackay, QLD.
